The Skukuza Regional Court this week sentenced two rhino poachers to an effective 19 years in prison.

The court heard that on the morning of 22 May 2019, Micheal Chauke (57) and Americo Mathonsi (59) were part of an orchestrated plan to enter the Kruger National Park (KNP) to kill and dehorn rhinos.

They entered Satara section inside the KNP.

Rangers heard some gunshots and when they arrived at the scene, they found a rhino with gunshot wound. The horn was not yet removed.
