We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Marisa Coetzee as the new Chief Executive Officer of GKEPF!
Marisa previously served as Head of the Landscape Integration Unit for the North Luangwa Conservation Programme in Zambia, under the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS). Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for GKEPF, strengthening long-standing ties between conservation partners working across southern Africa.
Marisa brings more than 25 years of experience in conservation leadership, including 13 years within the Greater Kruger landscape where she spent nine years with SANParks in the Kruger National Park. During this time, she played a key role in collaborative initiatives such as the 2018 Kruger National Park Management Plan review, multi-partner bioregional projects, and the Cooperative Agreement among conservation partners in the GLTFCA–Greater Kruger region.
Marisa says, “I am honoured to bring my experience and passion to GKEPF’s vision—working with others to build a future where ecosystems thrive, wildlife is protected, and communities prosper through strong partnerships.”
As GKEPF continues to support collaboration across private reserves, Kruger National Park, Manyeleti, and into Karingani in Mozambique, we are confident that Marisa’s inclusive and partnership-driven leadership will further strengthen unity, trust, and impact across the landscape.
GKEPF looks forward to this new chapter and to continuing the work of building a safe, resilient, and biodiverse Greater Kruger for both people and wildlife.
