Collective Impact
The challenges facing the Greater Kruger are complex and deeply connected, from wildlife crime and habitat loss to social and economic pressures on surrounding communities. Addressing them requires a unified, landscape-wide response.
GKEPF positions herself as a credible regional coordinating body bridging public–private, jurisdictional, institutional, donor and operational boundaries, bringing together private reserves, provincial agencies, national parks, and community structures under a shared purpose.
Through these collaborations, GKEPF facilitates joint projects, information sharing and the alignment of policies and practices across the Greater Kruger to provide a coordinated approach that builds trust, strengthens capacity and ensures that conservation efforts are effective and inclusive to safeguard biodiveristy while supporting people who live alongside it.
Our Programmes
Partner
Partnerships to strengthen cooperation and collaboration between stakeholders
Lasting conservation depends on collaboration between trusted alliances who share information. GKEPF builds strong partnerships that connect private reserves, government agencies, law enforcement and specialist conservation groups to tackle wildlife crime together. By linking donors with effective, long-term projects, we strengthen cooperation and create shared solutions that protect both people and wildlife across the Greater Kruger.

Protect
Protecting the environment for wildlife and people
GKEPF protects the Greater Kruger landscape by strengthening the systems that safeguard both wildlife and people. This is achieved through strengthening protection capacity, coordinated airwing support, investigative and technical support and specialised training that help partners stay ahead of evolving threats. Protection also extends beyond enforcement, encompassing veterinary interventions, human–wildlife conflict mitigation, and rapid response coordination to reduce risk and suffering for both people and animals. From ranger readiness and legal support to financial oversight and judicial awareness, GKEPF’s integrated approach builds lasting protection in the air, on the ground, and in the courts.
Prosper
Supporting opportunities for prosperity and resilience
Lasting conservation depends on people and place prospering together. GKEPF supports initiatives that strengthen social resilience, ecological resilience, build landscape pride and create opportunities where conservation and community well-being align. Through youth sport, environmental awareness and inclusion in conservation-linked opportunities, neighbouring communities become active partners in protecting the Greater Kruger landscape.
By connecting data, research, and real-world experience, GKEPF also helps shape strategies that balance ecological integrity with human security — ensuring that prosperity is shared, sustainable, and grounded in the long-term protection of biodiversity.
