A key theme of the GKEPF James Mayinga U19 Tournament, hosted in partnership with Kruger National Park and GKEPF’s member reserves in Thulamahashe in December, was humility, support, and giving back. Just as professional footballer James Mayinga founded the tournament to give back to his home community and inspire young people to pursue their dreams, the winning teams embraced this spirit by donating 10% of their prize money to a charity or institution of their choice – ranging from schools to homes for people with special needs.
On Friday, 21 February, these donations were handed over to their beneficiaries at a special event in Thulamahashe. It was inspiring to see the overwhelming support for the initiative, with many winning teams generously contributing beyond the agreed 10%.
