On 28 March 2026, GKEPF supported the South Africa Gallery of Legends Sports Day in Nxanatseni, Phalaborwa, bringing together young aspiring footballers and renowned South African football legends for a day of skills development, mentorship, and positive engagement.
The event was delivered in partnership with Gallery of Legends, SANParks, and sponsored by Bravo, with participation from respected figures in South African football including Shakes Mashaba and Steve Lekoelea.
The primary goal of the event was to build positive connections between young participants, community leaders, and accomplished sporting role models, while equipping learners with foundational football skills, encouragement, and inspiration from those who have succeeded at the highest levels of the game.
Through direct engagement with these role models, participants were exposed not only to technical skills, but also to the discipline, commitment, resilience, and mindset required to pursue their ambitions.
GKEPF’s involvement reflects its role as a strategic partner supporting initiatives that contribute to stronger and more resilient communities across the Greater Kruger landscape. Sport provides a powerful platform to engage youth, creating opportunities for personal growth, positive mentorship, and skills transfer.
Importantly, initiatives such as this contribute to broader efforts to strengthen community resilience by offering constructive pathways for young people. By investing in youth development and fostering aspiration, these engagements help reduce vulnerability to negative influences and support the emergence of future leaders within communities and beyond.
By creating opportunities for mentorship and growth, the event contributes to building a foundation for the next generation of talent, empowering young people to pursue their goals and become future legends in their own right.
