On 22 May 2026, GKEPF held its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Graeme Naylor Museum in Timbavati Nature Reserve, with additional participants joining virtually online. The meeting brought together 41 in-person attendees, alongside 30 virtual participants, representing Management Authorities, government departments, NGOs, law enforcement agencies, and partner organisations working together to support conservation across the Greater Kruger landscape.
The AGM marked an important milestone for GKEPF as the organisation reflects on its first decade and looks ahead to the future of collaborative, landscape-level conservation across the Greater Kruger.
The programme opened with remarks from GKEPF Chair Tom Hancock, followed by the screening of the GKEPF 10th Anniversary video, which reflected on a decade of partnership and collective action across the Greater Kruger landscape. Attendees then heard keynote presentations from Dr Markus Hofmeyer of Rhino Recovery Fund, Dr Kiéra Schoeman of The Collective Impact Advisory, and Frances Craigie from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment. The meeting also included updates on the implementation of the GKEPF Strategy and organisational progress from CEO Dr Marisa Coetzee, followed by the presentation of the annual financial statements by Kerry Hancock.
Keynote presentations explored themes linked to ecological resilience, socio-economic resilience across protected areas, and integrated approaches to wildlife protection, reinforcing the interconnected nature of conservation challenges and opportunities across the landscape.
The meeting reflected strong collaboration and optimism among partners, with discussions highlighting ongoing projects, shared priorities, and the continued importance of coordinated approaches to conservation security, ecological resilience, and community engagement across the Greater Kruger.
The AGM concluded with an opportunity for further discussion and informal engagement between attendees beneath one of Timbavati Nature Reserve’s iconic baobab trees.
