During October, GKEPF supported Eco Children with three environmental education excursions: two to Manyeleti Nature Reserve and one to Satara in Kruger National Park.
The excursions took place on 16, 21 and 23 October, with 89 participants across the three visits. They marked the beginning of a collaboration with Eco Children, which works with primary schools in communities neighbouring the Greater Kruger.

During the excursions, staff from Manyeleti Nature Reserve and Kruger National Park provided environmental education lessons and games, giving learners an opportunity to explore the wildlife and habitats they have been learning about through the Eco Children environmental education programme.

The journey to Satara was particularly memorable, with the group fortunate enough to spot all of the Big Five along the way!
These visits gave learners an opportunity to experience neighbouring protected areas firsthand, helping to build their appreciation for wildlife and encouraging an interest in conservation.
GKEPF plans to work more closely with Eco Children in 2027 to support and expand the programme, providing more opportunities for local learners to experience the natural environment.
